There is a vast distinction between a Medical Doctor and a Colon Hydrotherapist. The Medical Board of California is seeking to keep untrained practitioners from holding themselves out as doctors in an effort to protect the public.
If you (as a colon hydrotherapist) advertise that Colon Hydrotherapy may address in any manner symptoms such as:
Fatigue; Depression; Headaches; Sluggishness; Skin blemishes; Acne; Lower back pain; Overweight or (weight loss); Underweight; Poor appetite; Insomnia; Brittle hair and nails; Bad breath; et al or any other number of conditions, then, YOU ARE HOLDING YOURSELF OUT AS A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.
The bottom line:
You’re saying to the public, that if you (the client) have (for example) depression (this is a diagnosis) and then the prescription for the diagnosed depression is Colon Hydrotherapy (this is a prescription) -
You are prescribing Colon Hydrotherapy for depression - or any other condition you list or post. This is against the law! You are only a Colon Hydrotherapist - you may not make claims that Colon Hydrotherapy has any value.
If you (as a Colon Hydrotherapist) insert the speculum or rectal nozzle, then YOU ARE HOLDING YOURSELF OUT AS A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. In most states, inserting an instrument into any orifice of the body is the purview of a Physician or Nurse under the direction of a Physician.
As a Colon Hydrotherapist, you may not – insert the speculum or rectal nozzle and you may not do digital exams.
If you as a Client or Colon Hydrotherapist have ANY questions, you need to contact the I-ACT office and get clarification about that topic and understand the Guidelines, Policies and Procedures of all I-ACT Members.
Please contact I-ACT directly to verify the Membership and Certification level of ALL Colon Hydrotherapists. Also, confirm the therapist who is an Instructor or School, and they have the proper credentials and authority to Teach, proctor written tests, and facilitate the required 25 supervised sessions for Level 1 I-ACT Certification.
